Pawsley is a social networking and shopping experiment created for dogs, their owners, and people that sell dog-related services or stuff.
The idea came about as our pooch Maeby was sniffing around the web looking for a cool site to play. She couldn’t find one. Although we found a few virtual dog parks out there, none were created with the care and professionalism of a dedicated team that viewed the user experience and design as top priorities. But a social network for dogs isn’t a revolutionary idea, so we added some cool new twists to keep people (and pooches) coming back!
We wanted to create a fun-filled online destination for crazy dog lovers like us. At the same time, we knew we could leverage our collective love of canines to convince merchants to offer great deals to the Pawsley community. It would be a win-win! So we integrated these two concepts and developed an awesome experience that allows you to connect with others, share your best stuff, shop exclusive deals, and earn some cool ribbons!
While we treat Maeby like one of the fam, we know not all dogs are as fortunate. Wouldn’t it be cool to create a fun user experience that actually gives back to the dog community? Throw a bone to hounds in need? Sure! So we coined 4% for 4 Paws. Pawsley will donate 4% of all proceeds to dog-related charities and causes throughout the country!
English Springer Spaniel Born July 2009, Maeby (yes, RIP Arrested Development) had no idea she would inspire a completely new way for savvy dog owners to connect. In fact, much of Pawsley is a reflection of what we think Maeby would want a dog site to be... well, if she could surf the web, of course.
Founder Mike spent a few years crunching numbers on Wall Street (yuck!) before heading off to graduate school. After two years, while everyone else was scrambling to find a desk job, Mike knew he wanted to try something different – something he genuinely loved. In July 2010, with then 12-month-old Maeby by his side, the idea of Pawsley was born. Mike found some amazing people to help out, and together Pawsley began to take shape.
Biz Stuff As (arguably) the better half of Maeby’s owners, Neda can be credited with planting the initial Pawsley seed – but she didn’t know it at the time. As another former finance monkey with “more fun” aspirations, Neda helps with the day-to-day and overall business development efforts while avoiding the desk job search (and taking Maeby to the dog run).
Social Stuff Enjoy our Facebook page? Love the PawsleyBarks tweets? Digging the blog action? Thank Suzanna. As the Pawsley social media guru, Suzanna (somehow) finds all-things – dog to share with the Pawsley community throughout the day. She claims she doesn’t have a dog – just really loves them – but we can’t help but think she’s hiding a puppy in her apartment.
Strategic Stuff Paul has a thing for the big picture. In his effort to avoid a cubicle (notice a team trend here?), Paul decided to use his legal training for a more fulfilling purpose – making Pawsley cool. Like your ribbon? Thank Paul for that one. As Maeby’s uncle, Paul is quickly learning the puppy parlance. We hear he can’t wait to get into a pet-friendly place and get a furry friend of his own.
